126 speakers recommends
the original speakers in my 126 300se 1989 are starting to make a buzzing sound on low frequencies.
What would be a good choice of straight fit replacements. thanks mak |

I don't know if your speakers are the same size as my 86 300 SDL W126
But I put infinity up in the dash corners and they were a little taller than stock so the plastic cover that goes over them kinda bulges a bit I think they were like 4 1/2X 3" In the rear deck I put rockford fosgate 6 or 6 1/2 round speakers in there I just measured the old ones and got the same diameter But here is the wisdom part I will pass to you the magnets on the OEM are very shallow any new one worth it's salt or worth putting in is going to have a bigger and or deeper magnet case in point my fosgates since the magnets hit the trunk lid arms or springs I cut out a ring out of 3/4" partical board that had 1" of wood all around yours may differ by your speaker first so you can test fit them so the screw holes in the speaker ring have something to bite to. the OEM speaker covers still fit over the fosgates even though they are raised up 3/4" If I did it over again I would make a box that fits inside the rear 1st aid cubbies (I had two cubbies) and put 6x9's in there those plastic boxes have no obstructions like the OEM had |

If I am not mistaken, the OEM rear speakers are 6 ohm. I already changed my rear deck to 6X9, so if you want something to get by with, you can have this set I removed from my 87 420SEL. In Strongsville
