Infinity reference speakers for w126

Hey guys,
I just purchased some infinity reference 6412cfp speakers for my 1981 300sd at the advice of people on this forum. It was mentioned the speakers are nearly a direct fit, however, it does not appear they are. The rear speakers are a tad too large for the opening and don't have a way to mount them and the front speakers seem too large for the opening. I thought about trimming the plates on the front speakers but it even looks like the actual speaker itself won't fit in the opening. Anyone have experience with theses particular speakers? Any advice? Thanks.

no aftermarket speakers are a direct fit, they may be close, but there will be a small amount of modifying required,i was just told using a dremel to widen the holes will work, then apply sheetmetal screws,to hold it in place.

I put Infinity Reference speakers in my 1987 560SEC. I forget the size of the rear ones right now, but the front speakers were 3 1/2". I believe the rears were 5" round ones. I actually epoxied the rear speakers into the mounts that were there. These are the ones that angle the speakers toward the front. I think I even posted pictures somewhere on this forum.
