126 radio replacement

I was going to replace the Becker Cassette/radio with an aftermarket CD/radio. Pulled the unit out of the dash and that is as far as I got. Thinking about other posts, I am guessing that the assembly in the dash is called the head, the tuner and amp are located somewhere else. Is there an easy way to install the aftermarket CD/Radio or do I need to run new speaker and antenna wires. Is there a reasonably priced CD/Radio that will plug into the existing set up or can I add a cd player to the existing radio/cassette. I want a single disk unit, and would rather not have it in the trunk. Not sure of the best forum to ask the question, so I am also posting in the stereo section. Thanks for the help and advice.

You can buy an adapter for a single CD disk personal player to your existing casette at Radio Shack - or other such stores.

Depending on what year/model you have it can range from very easy to a royal pain. If it is just a standard indash, then just replace it. You may want to bypass the fader control by re wiring the speakers. but it should be a plug and play issue. If you do not have a real high power indash I would just hook it up should not take more than 45 min.
