Could be a couple of things. 1. The fader switch could be going south (not uncommon). 2. There could be a loose wire behind the radio or... 3. Look behind the side trunk lining on the passenger side. If there is an electronic radio tuner, then you have the updated system. So behind the rear seat back you will find radio amplifiers on each side.(left/right amps). Swap them to see if that makes a difference. As far as installing a new H/U, I ran a new set of wires for each speaker and bypassed the fader.

well I do have the new unit it has the amps behind the back seat, when I unplugged the front dash and door speakers the popping lowered in its loudness, the rear speaker has a very low not loud pop but if I pull the ground wire off it gets much louder. if I unplug the fader you can hear the pop in the rear, with the front unplugged you can hear the music over the pop in the back speaker. I have swapped the amps no change, will try bypass, need to fix this so I can put the CD in.

we have this cd player to replace the original radio with, but I thought I should fix one before starting another, but my son thought it could be in the radio, I may try to hook the cd player just to see, I will have to do a bunch of soldering since I do not have the plug ins with this player, it was a used unit out of a wreck benz, but the dummy cut the wires.

Ok put the blaupluk cd player to the wires and still have that popping in the left front, I suppose the amp is bad or the speakers? I think I am over my head. But I do wonder if I put all new wires into the speakers this would bypass the amps, will that efect the sound?
