I have heard good things about the Basslink unit and they go for around $200 on eBay. I haven't had personal experience with one, but I have had both the Subaru unit (it's got a super small foot print, is self-powered, and fits underneath either of the front seats) and currently I have a Kicker PC12 self powered unit in the trunk. The Subaru unit was neat because it was so small and produced just enough bass to make a positive difference. The Kicker unit I have is pretty good also, but is huge. It takes up about a quarter of my trunk space.

I have one in my 190E. Picked it up off of Ebay new for $235 shipped.

It is mounted under my first aid kit door. Ran a 8 awg power wire from the battery to the Basslink and grounded it to a bolt next to the gas tank. Signals are high level from one of the rear speakers. The basslink can tun on automatically when using the high level signal inputs, but that feature is flaky and I would not recommend using it, you would be better off tapping into the +12 volt turn on lead for the factory amplifier (in my case only about two feet away from the basslink).

The Basslink sounds very good and very tight. It does not play extremely low (25-30hz) and I am not sure if its a limitation of the Basslink or if the factory sound system has some sort of sub-sonic filter, anyway I am very satisfied.

Click on my pic to visit my web page and then take a look at my 190E, you can view install pics of the Basslink.
