85 300D radio not working after sitting long time - Help

I worked on my friends 85 300D to get it back on the road after about a year. I changed the oil, filters etc and got the A/C working and put in a new battery. The first time he drove it, he called me to tell me the radio wasn't working and that it worked 12 months ago before the battery died.
I checked the fuse panel - all good, but there seems to be no power to the radio. It is a stock MB radio/cassette (not sure what brand).
Is there another fuse located somewhere else?
Is this radio the type that needs a code?
Any help/ diagnosis would be appreciated.
Thanks.......Dennis

It is probably too early to need a code, but if it did, it would display something strange on the display.

Take out the ash tray, then take out the ashtray mounting assembly (the two phillips screws, then pull down the two clips that old the radio in - far right and far left, then the radio slides forward. You can reach in the ashtray area and give it a push. If it isn't easy then you don't have the two spring clips released. Take out the radio and test for power. If there is power, remove the screw on the right of the faceplate and then (I think) the faceplate comes off, spray all that with contact cleaner. There also might be a fuse on the back of the radio - I can't remember.

Search for "yak" and "radio" and "fuse" and you should find wiring diagrams. There are a few circuits that interconnect at the radio. I think four fuses affect it in some way.

Yes, it was the fuse on the back of the radio.
