Ilumination wire (stereo and climate control)--Come on, somebody has to know! :-)

In replacing the head unit, the new one does not need the illumination wire. However, even though ALL fuses are good, the illumination bulbs are not happening on the climate control unit. They haven't worked for about 3 weeks, since I originally pulled the radio and decided to replace it.

Any ideas?

Phillip (multi-tester doesn't show any power coming to it -- yes, I know the headlights must be on).
