W124 Antenna Mast Extraction Problem

Hi,
I have a '88 300TE. The antenna mast is stuck halfway. The motor tries to make noise when the head unit is switched on and off. So I think the motor is good. The antenna had a ding in the shaft and is a little crooked. So, I'm trying to get it ready to change the mast. It is out of the car at present. I am turning the black nut and the shaft of the mast was turning. So I "grabbed" the mast with pliers and was able to turn the black nut while holding the mast still. But it is not coming loose really. It just turns.

The antenna is the AUTA 6000 6-pin Hirschman.

How do you get this mast ready to come loose??

I was "assuming" I could loosen the nut and try to see if I could add power for the "roll up" and pull the mast out once the nut was loose?

The antenna has to be all the way up to get it out. I would take the motor out also and open it up greese it up and make sure everything is ok, then put new one in.

Hmmm, it may be somewhat of a trick to get the mast all the way up or out.
