Becker 754 with 4 dashes
I have becker 754 that's showing me the dreaded 4 dashes. From what I have read on these threads is I have to send it back to becker to disable the anti-theft device. Is this true? Can a local radio shop or Mercedes dealer do it? Thanks for all replies.
Thanks, Harry |

It coded out. Did you or the previous owner record the code for the radio in the owners manual?
If not http://www.radio-code.co.uk/becker-radio-codes.html

With 4 dashes, you have a 1986-89 car & that will need to be done by the dealer OR by Becker.

Becker 754
My understanding is that the 754 does not have a code. Is this correct? Or do I need a code AND need to have the anti-theft circuit disabled?
Thanks, Harry |

the 754 does not need a code #. it needs to be cleared. your dealer can clear it. unless the radio is repaired it will happen again. contact Becker at 201-773-0976 they can give you some optons

Becker 754
Does anyone know a radio shop other than Becker that can disable the anti-theft circuit? Becker wants to do a refurb which I cannot afford at this time.
Thanks, Harry |

Radio
Just go to Ebay and buy a preowned model that replaces type 754. That way you will hae a good radio and one that takes a code. That one does'nt. Repairing it costs way more than getting the next model which slides in perfectly. Do a search on this subject.

I'd hate to have to spend $75 + shipping to send it back to Becker in the US to get the mercury (or lithium?) battery replaced if that battery is only to enable the anti-theft alarm. The total cost for me will be over $150 with shipping & brokerage fees. Last edited by Toronto300E; 04-06-2012 at 03:51 PM. |
