99 S500 antenna question
 

I'm about to take delivery on a 99 S500 and I noticed the antenna was not going up and radio reception not that great. They said they'd fix it. They e-mailed me today saying the radio antenna is built into the bumpers and the metal nub where the power antenna traditionally is located is for the built in cell phone.

I thought the cell phone and radio antenna's were all in one mast that went up and down? This car has no dashboard button for antenna up and down like my 560 SEC, so I'm not 100% sure on what the 99 will have.

Can anyone let me know what their has?

The antenna should go up and down when the radio is turned on or off. It will go down if a CD is playing. It may have been disconnected during a repair of the closing assist pump or the CD player. Take $200 off the price.The bumper story is BS.

They ended up doing something to bypass something (I have to ask them again what they did specifically) but the FM signal is 95% now. So I'm happy with it. I'll post if I can find out what they did.
