Thumbs up

The RIO volt mp3 player has a lot of advantages from my point of view. The greatest advantage is portability .

It would withstand the temperatures you talk about cos i stay in Nigeria which is in the tropics and much hotter than your place. mine has never given me problems due to temperature.

Also i dont like the neo due to the fact that it is hard drive based which can be susceptible to sudden failure and attendant loss of all data (unless you have a back-up --extra expense!). The RIO volt player has solid anti shock capabilities and u dont need to mount in the boot , all u need do is connect to existing car deck using aux inputs . In my 2 years of using it , i am happy to say its never skipped once even when i hung it by my side whilst jogging!

So go for the riovolt and you would have no fear of heat and skip problems.

Pls check www.CNET.COM for reviews on the RIO Volt.

bye. :

minman; the max operating temperature of my player would depend on the operating tempurature range of the hard drive inside. A quick look on Maxtors web site says normal operating temp is 5C - 56C, Operating Mechanical Shock 30Gs, 2ms, there is also some vibration specs but I dunno what they mean. The operating tempuratures are for error free operation. I've run the player in -20C weather with no lost data/errors. Same in the summer time, everything worked well, but I doubt it gets as hot here as it does in Huston. Running the player at a very high temp I would say the worst thing that would happen is errors in the data stream which you would hear as a click, pop, or skip. I believe the specs for laptop hard drives have a higher operating temp and shock sensitivity is higher too, but the price is also higher.

Cheers for now.
