The passenger side speakers in my car are intermittent. When I turn the volume up they come on but later stop working. I suspect a faulty connector at the radio but do not know how to remove the radio to check the connection. Does anyone know how to remove the radio from a 1992 300D 2.5T Mercedes.

Some of these systems had amps built in. I have seen the amps at fault and the speaker at fault.

I am experiencing the same thing on a 92 500SEL. On mine the driver's side is out. From time to time it will pop back in. I have not had the time to pull it out. By the way how do you get the radio out and will I be able to switch the outputs (RCA jacks?) to see if the left side of the amp in the trunk is going bad? I have tried unpluging the multi-pin connector going into the Bose amp on the left side of the the trunk. I thought that maybe it was a loose connection at this point. Sometimes it seems that if I jiggle the volume lever the left side will pop back in. Maybe it is just coincidense

Thanks

I was having the same problem on my right front dash speaker. Thankfully it was under warranty, and the dealer replaced the speaker and that fixed it. Before it was replaced it remained silent more than working. If you turned up the volume rather loudly it would pop and come on.

My guess the speaker is defective.

hope this helps...jim
