Was considering sending my Becker Mexico (twin knob style) out of my '80 300SD back to Becker of N.America for a tune-up. The tape deck is beginning to play slow, and I think the whole radio could just use a good "freshening up" so to speak. I am told the tune-up costs $125 or so, and turnaround is within 1-2 weeks. So I was wondering if anyone has done this yet. If so, what were your thoughts? I removed/installed a Mexico unit in a 6.9 for a guy who had it refurbished by Becker, and he said it worked better before the tune-up! Other people have been very satisfied. Any help would, as always, be much appreciated!

Never been a fan of Becker stuff. Were it me I'd be tempted to put the cash towards an Alpine, Sony, etc.

Just my opinion...Lee

I agree with Lee on this one...

Put the money towards a good new deck (Alpine, Sony, Clarion etc etc) with decent CD player controls for a changer, and all the modern features you could wish for.

A refurbished deck is not a new deck ;-)

I know Becker is horribly overpriced and they don't sound all that great, but I'd like to keep this car as original as possible. I mainly listen to sports talk so I don't think it's necesary to spend alot of money for a CD deck. The AM/FM reception of the radio is fine, but occasionally I like to play a tape. Ok, thank you all for the opinions! Great website!
