I JUST INSTALED PIONEER HEAD UNIT AND A CD CHHANGER. CHAIKOVSKIY SOUNDS OK, BUT THE TECHNO I LISTEN TO IS FAR FROM WHAT I WANT IT TO SOUND.
INSTALING A SUBWOOFER MEANS CUTING A HOLE UNDERNEATH THE FIRST AID KIT (METAL BULKHEAD BETWEEN THE SEAT AND THE TRUNC PREVENTS SOUND FROM GOING IN TO THE SALON). IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN ENHENCE THE LOW FRIQ. BY DOING SOMETHING WITH JUST THE REAR SPEAKEERS? SOMETHING WITHOUT CUTING METAL |

For techno music you will need a sub. You dont actually have to remove any metal from the rear deck. Removing the rear speakers creates holes large enough for the air to move.
Depends how much bass you want and how much space you want to lose. On my 300CE, I have a 12" sub installed within the spare wheel (photos coming later this week!). That way I dont lose any boot space. ;-) Brian ------------------ Brian Drought 1991 300CE http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~drought/ ICQ: 2180069 |

DMITRY:
Whatever, you do, don't cut or drill into that "bulkhead" - it is your fuel tank! Regards, Nick |

Oh no, i didn't mean that i'm going to cut it . The option i had is cuting a hole in the horizontal deck riht under the med kit, so instead of the first aid stuff i would have a grile with 2x8" woofers underneath.
That would be a preaty nice set up (it is a perfect position for the woofers) exept for the price wich was estimated at 700$ and desturbing the integrety of the car. |

Dimitry,
Why don't you make a subwoofer case that fits in the sides of the trunk? You could place two huge woofers at each sides and it wouldn't take to much place. The trunk itself is a good subwoofer case already so why not using it Otherwise if you don't want to go into such big work, Pioneer is making some little subs that can fit under the seats without big installation, they are not impressive but they are self amplified and it is still somthing... ------------------ ------------------------------------- WEB Site : http://www.adamou.dpn.ch A.S.C. 1999 ------------------------------------- |

Where to put the sub has been bothering me for a year. As a temporary solution (until I see the perfect one on this site) has been an 8" bazooka tube in one back seat foot well. Not quite like two 12's but it hits OK. It's easy to remove for a fourth passenger and I can reach back easily to adjust the crossover for different music. Also, I think since it's not in the trunk you don't drive around with that boom-boom comming from the car - well at least with the windows up.
Let us know what you eventually work out. |
