Hi all,

I have a 91 W124 with a Becker Gran Prix 2000, it has the cd controls built into the head unit, and I would like to purchase a cd changer for this head unit, Does anyone know what models & manufactures will be compatible?

No one is able to tell me what changers will be compatible, Everyone I've talked to has wanted me to change the head unit at the same time. I don't want to use FM modulation, as I don't want another control panel put in, and I'd rather not change the head unit,

Thanks in advance for your assistance
Russ

I have a similar request. I have a '93 500E which apparently has a head prewired for a CD changer. Query is: Is this true? If so, do I have to use the hideously expensive MB unit, or are others adaptable?

My understanding is that you can use an Alpine changer but, must also buy an adapter.

I spoke to Alpine UK on this matter, they were very cagey. They say that you can use an Alpine changer (old AiNet style) but it needs tweaking. They wouldnt say what tweaking tho. :-(

You might find it cheaper to buy a new changer & head unit package.

Thanks all,

I got a hold of a Becker representative, and they informed me that the CD changer went out of production years ago, and the adapter cable that they made for the newer changer units and older heads went out of production years ago. so I'm essentially out of luck. Ironically they still have repair parts for the radio? but no cables.

Kind regards
Russ

Don't ask Becker directly, they will certainly try to make you buy the latest model for the highest price. Go to a simple audio shop and ask there...
