What's the story on the speakers in the '96 E320? Are they self-amplified? I'd like to replace the front speakers with MB Quarts but I've heard that I MUST replace all of the speakers if I do this. Is this true? Why?

Is it a Bose system? If so, indeed the speakers are amplified and you'll be obliged not only to replace all the speakers, but power them too. Just bought 2 sets of MB Quarts, and they're goin' into my 500E shortly; I think you've made a solid choice, for what it's worth.

The U.S. W210/E-Class Amplifier is located in the left rear driver-side quarter panel behind the felt-like trunk liner.
