I have learned that Becker radios are not the best available. I replaced the OEM Grand Prix in my 89 300 SE with a Type 2132 Grand Prix and installed a 10 disc changer Because I wanted to keep the car original. On overcast days the reception is ok, on clear days it's not good. I am always within 25 miles of Phila.PA. signal should be strong. Will a signal amplifier help and if so is one model better than another? Thanks.

Hi,
Did the poor reception happen right after you installed the new stereo? If so check the radios antenna connection on back of the radio again to see if everything looks ok. If it looks good, I would try plugging in the old radio and see if the reception comes back in strong again. If it does, then you may possibly have a bad new radio. How does the radio work on AM mode? If strong on your new radio, I would say the antenna connection is ok, and that the new radios FM portion is faulty! Hope this helps you out. I was hoping that the new radio would have better reception. It does not. AM stations are no better or worse than FM stations. Antenna connections are ok. Thanks. |

Hi,
All you have to do is shut off the FM modulator portion when you want to listen to the radio. This should bring the reception up alot, but not as good if the cd changer was removed though. Jim LaPlant |
