What is the best way to stop the stereo system to beep when the door is kept open longer than the 30 seconds?
I have an mp3 player, and I need to leave the door open since the wire needs to come out? Anyone out there have a good solution? Mr. LaPlant???? [This message has been edited by taison (edited 01-24-2000).] |

Get behind the head unit... it must have a wire either coming from a door pin, or more likely a wire coming from the dome light area. Anything apart from +ve power (both switched and constant), ground, and attena on is a suspect wire. Try removing this wire and see what it does!

Hi,
Taison means the door for the front of the new Bose double DIN TFT LCD stereo system. I will have to research this for you and will post reply. Jim LaPlant Factory Mercedes-Benz Technician |

Yes...that's exactly my question.
My temporary solution is a plastic rod that fits into the hole. However, this looks quite ugly. Is it possible that there will be a door that can allow a wire to come out? Thanks Jim. I'll be awaiting your reply. [This message has been edited by taison (edited 01-24-2000).] |

Ooops... I assumed it was a 'you've left the door slightly open' kind of warning beep...
See this is the problem of not having experience with US models ;-) Bri - on the tiny island. ------------------ Brian Drought 1991 300CE http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~drought/ ICQ: 2180069 |

I guess I should have been more clear about my question. I just hope that there is a solution to where I can close the door over the wire. This would be a better solution than stopping the beep when the door is open. It's just that the door closes so tightly that it leaves no room for anything to come out.

Any solution yet Mr. LaPlant?

Hi Taison,
So far I have looked in our Mercedes computer connected to the radio and checked the version coding for it. There is no way I have found to change the programming or shut the beep off. The door does fit very tightly. I am still thinking of a fix for you. Jim LaPlant Factory Mercedes-Benz Technician |

I found a solution. Instead of using a tape adapter, I bought a wireless FM radio transmitter that plugs into the headphone jack of my mp3 player. I can then just tune the radio to one of the preset stations and I have my music.
