190E Stereo System OEM+ Retrofit Help
Hello,
I'm hoping to retrofit the radio stereo system from an older 1993 Canadian market special edition 190E into my older car. I'd like to swap the headunit for a Becker BE 4602, if I can find one. I understand I'll need to go as far as replacing the rear parcel shelf and centre console to get the required components settled in properly (I also intend to replace the casette holders with the storage cubby MB made for these cars). I'm hoping someone can help me locate the wire connections for the rear speaker wires and the centre-high-mounted-stop-light as I'd like to avoid cutting any wires if at all possible. Please offer any tips/advice you can. Thank you, Mike

The 1993 unit should also have the amplifier/crossover for the small 4", front door mounted, subwoofers. The headunit itself will fit without modification. The amp/crossover is in the trunk, near the gas filler door, behind the plastic trunk wall.

Thank you kindly for the schematic, time to print this off.
Does anyone know if the centre console on the newer 91+ cars will simply bolt into the older pre-91 cars? I have sourced a pristine one and wonder if I should buy it. -Mike

Yes, the center consoles are interchangable. My favorite is the one from the 2.3-16, without the three instrument piece, since it gives you a lower double DIN space.
