The 300E and 500E threads were very informative; I'm working through the same process, but have questions not addressed in the prior threads. Specifically, how to run the wiring from the trunk to the head unit. I'm installing a Blaupunkt Tokyo in place of the Grand Prix. I've removed the tuner and both amps from the trunk and the cassette drive from the dash.
1. How do I run the antenna lead from the trunk to the dash? Is there a trim R&R guide?
2. How can I by-pass the fader and re-wire to have individual grounds to each speaker? Mkine has mid-subs in the front doors, dash speakers, and rear deck speakers.
Thanks,
Ray

Ray,

What wires specifically are you running (I'll get to the antenna in a minute)? Is this going to be an amplified system?
Presuming no amps, the only wire running from the trunk to the HU (Head Unit) is the antenna (your battery's under the hood, right?). If so, what I did was to pop the door sills straight up; they have metal clips on their underside that grab straight down at the highest point.

Next, undo the 2 screws that hold your b-pillar (between front & rear doors). This allows it to be pulled away a bit so you can sneak the wire later.

Pull out rear seat (unavoidable..sorry). Bottom cushion likely removes easily (I have rear buckets so it's different a bit) and the upper cushion is anchored at its outside lower corners. Remove those anchor screws and, while pressing top of seat cushion against the rear of the car, lift up on it...it's held in place by 4 or 5 tabs that point straight down off the back top of the cushion.

Go to the trunk; remove the mat and remove the back wall of the trunk (two black clips hold it in place at the top; pry out the inner tab then remove whole clip). Remove another of those clips that holds the antenna-side trunk lining and pull it out.

That done, you'll see several ways to snake the antenna wire through. Next, you need to remove the dead pedal. First peel back the upholstered "weatherstriping" that seals the front edge of the drivers door; you'll see one small philips head screw exposed after having removed the door sill; remove it and slide the dead pedal/kick panel rearward. Remove drivers side floormat. I'd simply run the antenna across the floor and sneak it under the transmission covering, right to the radio.

Let us know how it goes.

Refront the hi

Actually, the battery is in the trunk, on the right side under where the amps and tuner were mounted. While I'm running the antenna wire, I'll run leads for an amp - just in case.
The speaker wires all go to the console fader and share a common negative - this will mean I have to run all new speaker wires, too - unless y'all know some tricks. I can't find any place where the leads are one pair per speaker.
Thanks for the trim R&R tips. The rear seat cushion seems permanent, though. Any thoughts?
