E320 Radio Static

I have a 04 E320 wagon with 34K miles. The radio has always worked fine both FM and AM but now AM is getting a lot of static especially when I push on the brake pad. We do live out of the city so AM would come in weaker than in town but until now it has been coming in very clear. Obviously I am getting interference somewhere in the electrical system. Any guesses what could have happened to cause this interference or how to trace it? Or is this a MB dealer job? Thanks Desert.

I'll bet you've got a brake pad wear sensor worn through. I've seen this happen on 211's before.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense since I only get the static when the car is moving or when I put on the brakes it gets really bad. The car only has 34K on it but that's probably enough for the brake sensors to start wearing through and making contact with the rotor. I'll take the car into my local shop tomorrow and if that's not it then to MB. Do you know if that model 2004 E320 NOT fourmatic has two or four brake pad sensors on it? Thanks, Desert

Follow up for ILUVMILS....You were right on, it was a brake pad wear sensor on the right rear brake. Both rear brakes need new pads but the front brake pads are good for at least another 10K which surprised me since I thought the fronts always went first. Anyway, thanks for the expert advise.....Desert
