Autopsy of a Dog's Breakfast

I bought a 1991 350SDL from benhogan and have not had issues with the car except for condensation and climate control. Oh and radio.
It never worked and he never removed it.
I carefully removed the Becker Radio, apparently a model S, last night.

It has a US-made glass fuse, intact, versus the little itty bitty MB fuse.

But I digress.

The BIG problem is that, when I carefully slide the radio out using the keys, I discovered that not only were half the wires not connected, MANY OF THE WIRES HAD BEEN DISCONNECTED FROM THEIR PLUGS, OR TORN OUT!

So even if I got a new radio, what would I connect it to?

I am looking for a diagram that will indicate which color wire goes where, and then I'll systematically rebuild the wire harness from the way it was, then test for power etc.

I could use a diagram for the connectors to the back of the radio.

I also do not see the cable connector that goes to the other half of the radio. Haven't looked for that yet.

I have seen the general set-up diagram listed on the Audio sticky (thanks, Roy!) but I need the detail so that I can remake the wiring harness before being able to plug it into anything.

Or can someone cut sections out of a 350SDL wiring harness in a boneyard and send them to me for a price?

I realize that's less likely, but prolly any 126 wiring harness would be identical, I'm guessing.

Your thoughts, please, especially if you have had this experience.

I am looking for answers and suggestions/offers of assitance/offers to sell sections of the wiring harmness.

Thanks,
S

This is in no way benhogans fault, but whoever owned it previously either had a bad mechanic or thought they could do electrical work.
I just need a schematic.

The problem is that your car has the Becker 1432... a multi piece set with wires running all over the car. It sounds like someone was trying to splice in an aftermarket headunit and failed (hint, there are no speaker or antenna wires at the head unit!)

Did they cut up the gray data cable?

If the system is trashed you migth be better off wiring in an aftermarket headunit. The factory speaker wires terminate at the amps located behind the rear seat back.

I had to rebuild my system after a PO installed an aftermarket head. Take pictures of what you have and I can help you out.

When I got my '84, someone had ripped the aftermarket radio out without disconnecting anything. No, it wasn't stolen. This was done by the seller, who said he'd had enough of this ____ ____ car. Fortunately, the original Becker 612 was in the spare tire well.

It's back, after I aquired a harness from a parts car, and playing cassettes again!
