I am in the process of upgrading the stereo on my '79 240 and need some help about how to remove the Becker Corona stereo. I plan on installing a Blaupunkt Toronto and Polk Dx4's and Dx5's (front and back). Any suggestions on other speakers would be appreciated. Also, I know I need to bypass the fader wheel. Is there anything special to do this?
Thanks! ------------------ W123 1979 240D 224K (Southern Sloth) |

Sounds like a good upgrade to me. To bypass the fader wheel I would run new speaker wire throughout so that you know the wires will be able to handle any extra power of the head unit. That way you also will knoe that everything will be perfect. I just finished doing this myself with no problem. My last suggestion would be to consider running amplifier wiring now in case you decide to install one at a later date and then would not have to tear the trim apart again. Just a thought. Have fun.
