best new radio for a 79 300sd?

the becker is on its last leg...does anyone have any suggestions on a good replacement, preferably cd, and reasonable, and any tips or tricks to installation, as my local car stereo dealer wants a hundred bucks to install(we're pretty handy)! thanks!

At that price range, my personal preference is Alpine or Sony, but basically take your pick.

Theres very few poor quality units out there, stick the major brands (Sony, Alpine, Philip, Panasonic, JVC etc) and you wont go wrong.

Installation is EASY. Best to check it out once you get the unit, as 90% of it should make sense.

FYI, many mail-order companies (ie Crutchfield) as well as local installers often have wiring adapters that will allow you to patch directly into the stock wiring harness. As long as you're not pushing too much power you'll be fine, and it shouldn't take you but half an hour to do the install...the wiring kit makes it unbelievably easy.
