98 C230 Non-Bose speaker upgrade, can I keep the old head unit?

As you know, most of you like to keep the old stock head units as long as possible and it happens I have 3 functioning radios, and two non-factory head units. I'm looking to upgrade speakers for more bass, but mostly treble without getting rid of the old head unit and adding amp which is a mess. I'm looking to find out how many watts the bose speakers are for the 202. I don't have access to pick-n-pull without making a long trip and it'd be nice if i knew the specs. I'm trying to replicate those with a different brand with ones bought online or in a store.

IIRC the bose system uses a different impedance than the non-bose (and most other standard car audio) system. So I'm not sure you can plug in the bose speakers into a non-bose setup.

I had a non-bose system in my 2000. When the head unit volume control stopped working, I bought an Alpine unit and replaced the front speakers with a larger set of 6.5" coaxials. It required some special baffling that I had to modify even more. I bought the most efficient ones I could find. The bass and definition was noticeably better, not earth shattering but fine for my use.
