well i have successfully blown one of the mids in the doors and am on my way to the second one. i think my mom didnt it though when she had the car. i am looking into replacing them but i need some info. i need to know what the dimensions for the openings are so i can figure out what size speaker i need to buy. i am not going to install the speakers myself seeing as this car is a lot better than my old 84 volvo where i did all my own audio. so i dont want to pull off the panels and i will leave that to someone at a store called great sounds that does that kind of stuff. i am also going to buy a cd player for the car cause i can no longer deal with my tapes. im thinking of eclipse or alpine so far. i want something that is not gaudy or ugly, any suggestions? How do i know if i have a built in amp in this car, reading through the discussions it seems that some people do but i dont know if i do or not. thank you

robert

I don't own one, but Nakamichi (www.nakamichi.com) makes some classy looking head units. I believe you can also order them with amber/red lighting, which is a little bit of a plus at night. If you have the door speakers, I'm almost positive you have a built-in amp. I doubt they're very powerful, but to absolutely check, look in the right hand quadrant of your trunk (by the decklid spring), behind the paneling. There should be one or two electronic boxes, and that is where the amp resides.
