i have an 81 280e (w123) with two aw1200 subs (check my signature). My problem is, my engine is a little too loud for my liking, especially when heard from outside the car, it drowns out the stereo a litlte (i know, im superficial). The hoodpad hasnt been replaced; its the original, so would a new one help, or should i put either several layers of dynamat or some special sound-blocking foam under the hood/on the firewall inside the engine? Thanks a lot in advance to anyone who posts.

2 aura mr475's, 200x2 each
2 audiobahn aw1200s in a ported box
1f cap

not bad for a car older than me, huh

Dynamat is generally used to stop vibrations. if you want to quite down the engine compartment, I would recommend you put in new heat shielding under your carpets int he front of the car and go up as far as you can behind the dash.

The dynamat Can't hurt, I just don't think it was designed to reduce noise but rather to reduce vibration.
