In re: my 1985 300D Turbo Diesel. I am looking to replace my factory in dash and rear deck speakers with hopes of improving the sound quality. I have already replaced my Becker Grand Prix with a better unit putting out 35 watts x 4. (Not looking to rattle the windows here, just looking for good clean sound. I listen to classical, jazz, blues, and old rock...) Any and all recommendations as to sizes, frequency response, co-axials versus individuals, brands, etc. will be greatly appreciated. Thanks - Raven

Pathetic as it may be, all you can stuff in there are 4" speakers. (unless you plan on making the hole bigger) I put some decent 2 way speakers in the rear (Jensen's I think) and some 3 ways up front (el-cheapo brand) I didn't go crazy with the speakers, mostly because of availability, and sound quality...after all how much bass can you get from 4 inch speakers in such a huge room?

first of all, that head unit is putting out nowhere near 35x4 - thats the max wattage, rms is close to 13. What you can put in depends on your budget - without doing any major surgery (putting speakers in the doors), you can pick up a good set of infinity/diamond/boston/focal coax's for less than $150 to put in the dash, a good set of 5 1/4's in the rear deck, and a 4 channel amp that puts out about 35-50 watts of good, clean rms power. PPI is one of the best on the high end, hifonics on the low end. You probably want one good 10" sub for bass, with an amp that puts out around 200watts rms bridged. Good luck - with a little work, even 123's can sound great!

clear indicators, new exhaust/intake

stereo -
jvc head unit
6 infinity kappa coax's
aura mr675h 90x6
2 aura mr475's, 200x2 each
2 audiobahn aw1200s in a ported box
1f cap

not bad for a car older than me, huh

sorry if it seems unclear above - $150 is the price for the front speakers only. Not positive about the others, probably about 150 for the rear speakers, 5-700 for the amp, 200 for the sub and 300 for a second amp.

I have an 85 300TDT and am looking at replacing the origional tape deck with something new...what alterations need to be made to the power/antenna/speaker connections to install an aftermarket radio?I may also put new speakers in as well.
Any recomendations on a replacement antenna that I don't have to worry about getting bent or broken...replacing the motorized unit that will not go down.

Thanks for your time.
Alec.
