sound deadening a W126

I'm getting a lot of rattiling from the trunk and rear deck. does anyone know what the problem might be. The car is a 1983 300sd. I'm not sure wether to go with dynamat or a spray on dampner. Also does anyone have any experience with cutting the first aid kist and storage from the rear deck? thanks

Maybe the trunk seal?
I would go for Dynamat, but I probably wouldn't do it for a diesel unless I have too much money. (not for these old diesels at leasT)

Why I wouldn't do it for a diesel?

Maybe because it makes a lot of noise (especially on idle), but I guess it could be different because I have a W123.
If I had the spare cash though (don't me wrong), I'd get a professional Audio shop to soundproof the whole car..

I was day dreaming one day and putting the list of all the things that I'd do if I had a 300D.. and that was one of them.

Why Dynamat? I don't know. It's just that the idea of a thin liquid as a sound dampener.. I could be wrong though.

a way to get cheap dynamat material is go to home depot (i got mine at Lowes though) and buy this product called "peel n seal" in the roofing section. it is a rubberish, tarish material with aluminum back plating. not as good as dynamat but for 10 buck a roll get 2 or 3.. i will get some pics of it soon. good luck

Industrial strength sound control go here:http://www.mcmaster.com/ search sound dampener/sound dampening/sound control. They have peel and stick plus some rather high end sound solutions. I use their thin mass loaded dampeners in place of the vapor film in my door panels and their thicker mass loaded "mat" material all over, where you would Dynamat.

I got my keys locked in my trunk the other night and this caused me to remove the plastic compartments for the first aid and storage compartements. The rattling that had been plaguing me is 100% gone. The only rattling now is from the trunk. and the bass hits about twice as loud now and VERY deep. I think I'll probably get a can of spray on for the spare wheel well and a sheet of dynamat or somethinfor the trunk lid
