One last antenna question...

Hi,

I have one question for those of you who have swapped out your old antenna. Particularly those with becker europa cassette systems in w123 cars. I would simply like to know if the wires that carry the radio signal and those that send the power up/down are seperate at the antenna, and if they are also seperate at the radio end. I know there must be a signal cable for the actual radio signal, and also a power connection (5 wires I believe) to make it go up and down via the radio and dashboard button, but I dont knwo if these wires go through the same connector on either end of the connection from the antenna to radio, or if they are seperate(hopefully). Any info would be most appreciated, I hope to get to the bottom of this and have some more sound for my car with the installation of a new OEM antenna(rebuilt with full functionality even from dashboard buttons) and hopefully an RF CD changer...
Thanks

JMH

If i understand your question, the antenna cable is a 7-8mm thick coaxial cable and is routed separately from the the conventional wires that raise and lower the antenna mast. There is a dedicated jack for the antenna cable at the antenna end and the radio end. Not all of the wires that go to the antenna motor start at the radio. I think only one of the wires comes from the radio.
