Believe it or not, I'm not happy with this setup...I'm starting over!

I'm going to trace another template and cut a board that fits better. The board will be wrapped in silver carbon fiber wrap, and the entrance and exit points for wiring will be grometted. Crossover wiring routing will be neater, and components will be attached with allen head bolts and nuts rather than wood screws.

I don't have plans to display this at stereo competitions or anything, but I treat all of my installs as it they could be. The most looks this project might get in the future would be in the driveway, among my beer-drinking neighbors...

Still sorting out daughter's car (overheating issues), but I am resuming the stereo project during the weeknights.

Rerouted factory harness away from the OEM amp on the left over to where the board is going to reside:

Cut an access hole in the trim panel for the wiring. Need to be able to remove the trim panel for other servicing without having to dismantle the audio system.

Previous amp board with the gear removed. It's scrap now.

New board being test fitted...

Gear on standby until I get the board cut to fit.

This will be the revised install placement of the gear. The little round black plastic doohickies are grommets. Holes drilled for wire access will have grommets surrounding each for a neater look.

Project suffered massive failure recently.

During the install, I sloppily allowed a couple of bare speaker output wires to contact each other, the end result frying one of the crossovers, and rendering the amp into permanent protection mode.

Frustrated, I took everything out of the car and stored it away in my office.

I've decided to go yet another route.

I am going to purchase a couple of amps this time...one dedicated mono subwoofer amp and a 4-channel amp for the others. Also going to obtain different crossovers and replacement drivers for the ones destroyed by the PO.

This will be a slow process, so I probably will retire this thread and open a new one when I resurrect the project once again.

Thanks for watching!
