Help removing antenna mast... Please

1995 E320 wagon

Suggestions on how to?

Have tried - loosening the hold-down nut, then turning on radio. Mast does not pull out, it goes up to normal position and stops... can't be coaxed further.

I DON'T want to break something. Help

Thank you

Loosen nut at bottom of mast, turn radio on , while its rising and hits upper stop, yank it, it should then spit out of tube , if it dosent, take it apart see why it wont eject.

I gave that a try several weeks ago but haven't had a chance to mess with it since. I didn't 'yank' up on it when the power was turned on but will be a little more forceful when I get back to this project. Thanks :)
