Power antenna to radio wire
(Repeated from tech forum)
Ok, one quick question I'm hoping someone can answer for me. While connecting my amp a few weeks back, I ended up accidently cutting the wire that tells the power antenna to turn on and I just went out to reconnect but I can't remember which wire it was. If someone could let me know what color the wire is that comes from the back of the radio to control the power antenna, I would really really appreciate it. (I think it goes from the stereo to the switch but im not sure). There are a few open wires but I'm skeptical about just connecting it and finding out what happens. |

oh one more thing... does this power wire output power from the radio just when it's on the radio source or would it be on when the cd player is going too? (for reference of using a testing light). This is out of curiousity because i can't use my switch on the dash to make the antenna go up or down now, but it was working before i messed with the radio, so I'm assuming it's what I did, just not sure because I didn't really use the antenna much but a few weeks after i messed with the wiring i tried the atenna and noticed it didn't work, so i assumed it was because of the wire i cut and used for my remote amp turn on.

The antenna trigger wire is blue, this wire extends to the antenna switch in the dash. The factory radio does not control the antenna seperately between radio and cd.

Scott,
I found that while the factory Becker turns on the antenna and amp simultaneously, they are separate circuits. When I installed my new headunit, i wired them separately (you have to run a wire to the amp turn on in the trunk) and now the antenna only goes up with the radio on and is down with the CD playing. I also found that the blue antenna turn on was sheathed in black and had its own ground circuit. I don't know how this varies from model to model but at least on mine this was what I found... Joe

It always helps when asking questions about your car that you define your year and model. I am well aware of the radio wiring in most all mercedes and I am glad to see you figured it out.
