Whining noise from radio...blaupunkt...w114
Hi everyone,
I installed an iPod through the 6 point adapter to my 1971 mercedes 250 (blaupunkt). Everytime I start the engine, a whining noise cuts in. I suspect it's from my distributor (whines when the car moves; doesn't make a peep when the engines off). Someone told me that it may be a bad ground, so I replaced the negative battery cable. I also installed an noise silencer to my radio. ...still whines. I replaced my original points in my distributor with pertronix (so I removed the condenser that suppressed this noise from the diz; but still kept it as parts). Question: how can I make this whining noise stop (can I still connect my diz condensor to the electric pertonix upgrade; any other thoughts?) Jub

Have you still got the little contact points in your caps next to the wheel bearings fitted?

Sounds like the alternator. They make suppression capacitors kits to eliminate the whine.
All over google. |
