Best place to tap into electrical system?

I will be adding a couple of circuits to my 85 300sd. One for powered sub, one for a seat heater. Where is the best place to tie into both 12v and chasid grounds? I don't see any spare fuse locations in the fuse box.

It would be nice to keep all fuses in one location (fuse box) but maybe it would be easier to tie into the terminal block near the alternator and use in-line fuses? Directly at positive lead of battery?

Also, Where is the best place to go through the firewall/dash?

Thanks in advance.

I will also, of course, need to tap into switched power.

On my 380SE I went through the firewall behind the battery. There was a spare 'tit' on the rubber grommet that I opened and pushed my power lead for the amp through, for the switched power I tapped into the blue power antenna lead from the aftermarket head unit.
