Becker 754 Security Wire Grounding

Hello all,

Getting ready to re-install the Becker 754 radio (Satan's own) in my '86 560SEL.

Many years ago I had the five-pin security connector left off. A "grounding clip" was evedently spliced into the wire and cliped in somewhere. Good so far BUT WHERE?

The reason I ask is when I pulled the radio out the whole mess came out with it and I cannnot for the life of me figure out to what or where I should clip that clip to keep things nice and quiet.

Any thoughts would be most welcome.

Thanks in advance!

Unless I'm confused you can simply leave the ground / security connection off. If someone steals the radio while the alarm is armed the radio won't self destruct like it did originally... but at this point in time I don't think people are stealing 1980s tape decks.

Absolutely - the 5-pin security connector has been unplugged for almost 15 years now however the fellows who did the work went through the trouble of grounding the security system to radio wire - but where and to what?

I cannot help but think that they felt that they had reason to do so.

Ah, how I miss the good-old days...
