98 C280 Sport CD Changer Install
I have read all the past posts and am still having trouble locating this elusive 10 pin connector wire in my trunk. I just bought an Alpine CHM-S630 (they were out of the S620's and sent me this as a replacement) and am waiting on the Peripheral adapter cable to be shipped. When you open up the trunk and take out the liner, should the connector be visable ... is it connected to something else on the right side or is it clumped together with the battery cables.
I bought the car in March with an in-dash cassette player and a head unit that has 6 presets and a button that says "CD" and am hoping that this means the head unit will control a changer. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it! |
Your radio will control the alpine cd changer so don't worry about that. The connector should be above the right rear wheel well tied to the harness froom the front of the car. The harness is @3/8" in diameter and it is black in color.

EUREKA!! It took some digging but I was finally able to get the trunk interior out of the way enough to find the one wire not attached to something ... the wire with the 10 pin plug! Right where you said it would be!
Thank you sooo much Scott ... now I have to wait for the Peripheral adapter that has been on back order for weeks from Sound Domain to get here before I can go any further. Nothing ever installs easily for me so I'm sure I will be back with other questions!!! :) Thanks again! |
If you want the mbzil adapter I have it in stock.
