123 economy replacement question...
 

I was asked by a friend if I could replace the radio in her 123. Sure, no problem.

But then we started talking money and it turns out she hasn't got a lot. So again, no problem. We just need to find a really good head unit from some other car and install it.

As long as it is a system that fits the DIN of the 123, and that includes a lot of cars from the 70's, 80's and even into the 90's I can deal with the wiring. She has the usual four speakers but would like to find a unit that is driving six speakers and we would stick in two more somewhere. Again, all of this would involve used speakers, radio and even the wiring if I can snag it.

So.... What are some good factory units that I could stick in there? A Ford JBL? Some Bose unit? A good unit from a Lexus or otherwise high level Asian car?

I figured I could search all day or I could ask here and maybe someone might know.

(A Becker from that era will not work since it can only fade from right to left and not right to left and front to back.)
