speaker wiring color codes

Good day all.
Could someone help me with speaker color codes on a 1989 300E?

Rear left.......black
brown/red

Rear right.....brown
brown/green

I need the front color codes as well as positive and negative ID for both the front and rear.

Brian

Brian:
This doesn't match up with what I have.
What i list for an 89 300E is this:
Out of the radio, there are 2 connectors.
One is left out, one is right out.
Left is Black/red (pos) and black (neg)
Right is Black/green (pos) and black (neg)
From these wires it's split up to front and rear at the fader in the center console. The wires will change colors at the speaker pigtail itself.
The colors for the positive wires leaving the fader are this:
LF is Grey/brown
LR is Black/yellow
RF is Black/red
RR is Black/grey
The negatives are all fed back to the 2 connectors on the back of the radio (that feed the power to the fader, the black wires)

Howdy Gilly,
Thank you for your prompt response. I should have explained that I was installing a new head unit. (Pioneer DEH-P630).
I figured time wise the best way to by-pass the fader was to run new speaker wire. The wire coming directly from the speakers is black and green ( front and rear). These wires are spilced into different color coded wires that lead into the fader and old head unit. Running new wire to the rear speakers gave me a good chance to clean up under the back seat (amazing the varity of ***** you can find there). I also discovered a cell phone amp? and ended up pulling it and all associated wireing.
When I was ready to re-wire the front speakers I thought the only way to get the color codes was to pull the speakers from the dash untill I saw the familiar green and black wires behind the console. Easy enough.
Now I left no bare wire exposed but will there be any problems with this method of fader by-pass? I really have no use for the fader switch so I just left it in place.
Do I still have power to the fader if all I did was wire the speakers directly to the head unit?
I guess what I need to know is if there are any loose ends that I need to pay attention to.
When powered up with a Rockford sub the sound is awsome. The front speakers in my opinion sound excellent however the rear speakers leave a bit to be desired. Is there any truth to what I have heard that the Euorpeans think the sound from a system should be in front of you rather than behind you?

Thank you Gilly.

Brian

Bypassing the fader is perfectly normal. My car has it bypassed.

If the rears dont sound as good, mine sound better than my frotns, then I would suggest checking to see if it makes a difference by fading your radio to the rear just a bit.

Didn't someone awhile back have a great idea for installing a switch/control for something else (aftermarket) in the oft-unused fader control in the center console? (Nitrous, passenger ejector seat, missile arming switch, something?)

Seriously, though, there was something in a thread in this forum somewhere about 2 years ago.

Should be able to do a search for just this forum. You can also set a time parameter for the search, plus keep the search in just this particular forum, shouldn't be too hard to find it.

Bump...to mark this for future reference.

And...on the late 91-93 190, isn't there also a split off the fronts (prior to the fader) that goes to the amp.
