Becker 1432, antenna/amp trigger is blowing fuse.
A friends 1991 300SD sat for a few years... Fixed the engine and now we're having "radio issues".
I know most say the becker is junk, and I'm sure it is... He just wants to occasionally be able to listen to the radio (and it's usually talk radio or some non-music type stuff). So I don't want to install a different system. Anyways. 1432, hooks up just fine but it blows the white 8a fuse instantly when you plug in the black amp trigger wire. I've tried plugging in just the antenna wire and it doesn't blow the fuse. One time I got the amp to "turn on" and music worked for about 60-90 seconds and then the fuse blew.... We've been through about 10 fuses now and they all blow the second that connector is plugged into the radio. I've completely unplugged that little black box that is under the rear passenger seat (both at that device and at the radio). Still blows fuse. I've tried to find the schematics online so I can trace back what it might be, but haven't found anything real useful yet. Does the radio output +12v to that trigger line? Does it send that wire to ground? Any help would be appreciated! |
