1990 300e
I just purchased a 1990 300e. I am extremely happy with the car, however the stereo is somewhat lacking in my opinion. I plan on keeping the original headunit, but I was wondering if I can hook up an amp for subs to it? If so, how would I go about hooking it up? what cables would I need? I know this decks don't have RCA preouts like I am use to, so any information would be helpful to me.

you need a line to RCA converter. Scott @ la jolla audio has some that he uses all the time and swears by them. I would recommend you get from him as he has all the right converters and recommendations for improving your sounds while retaiing the factory unit.
Personally I would opt to change the head unit, then speakers, then add a sub. In my car, I bought it with an aftermarket deck already in it. so I added a subwoofer and an amp for the sub easily, and with the factory speakers, I made some changes to them added a couple of tweeters, and the sound is much better now.
