looking for advice on a star system
 

I got myself a 2004 mercedes, and I've been looking for a star system to go with it. I found this one on the internet, and was wondering if anyone had experience with the system, or the company selling it:

As I'm somewhat impatient, I think that the extra will be worth it for the faster multiplexor, and tablet. I'm not a fan of the old dell or lenovo laptops. They seem to die in my hands. I had 3 for running a RFID chip scanner for cattle, and all 3 broke within weeks of getting them.

Have just the same question at the moment ..

A few things:

There are probably a bunch of companies that make them, I have no idea if one is better than the others.

The software is locked to the hard drive. This can become handy if the lap top fails as you can just pull it and move to another like machine. I'm not sure if a tablet has a removable hard drive. If you copy the SW to another HD, it won't work.

Don't use the lap top for any other use that you can't regenerate on another machine.

Don't transfer data between the star lap top and another machine you care about.

Never let the lap top hook to a network or wi fi, it will call home and brick. ( All of the aftermarket star systems are copies. ) Don't expect any support from MB even if the SW says to contact them.

When you start the computer, let it run a while as there things in the background that need to happen so the SW works. Same goes when you connect the interface box.
