Question How do I remove a head unit?

Can someone please tell me how to remove my head unit? I have a factory Becker in a 1993 190E.

Please list all tools, etc., as I am a novice here.

Thanks!

Kane

It should be an alpine. If it has a round volume knob it is an alpine. Pull the ashtray metal liner out and beind it you will see two phillips head screws . Remove these two screws and then pull the whole assembly out. This will release the locking tabs for the radio. Then you can pull the radio straight out of the dash.

Locking tabs!

Ok, I got the ashtray unit pulled out and can see the gold locking tabs, but absoloutely cannot get them to budge. Did I maybe do something wrong when unscrewing and removing the ashtray assembly?

And yes, you are correct, it is an Alpine because it does have the round volume knob.

Thanks,

Kane

I believe that you will need to pull down on the locking tabs but I am at a loss to remember exactly! I will look at a unit tomorrow and let you know for shure!
