CD cassette 95 E320
The six-CD cassette in the trunk of my 95 E320 has faulted again. I'm tired of dealing with it every time it faults. Is there any drop-in replacement for the unit? What are my options?

Maybe, the actual unit ( at least on the 97 cars ) was made by a Japanese company ( I don't recall the name ) and was found in other cars and even the generic aftermarket so there is hope another unit can be installed.

Kestas, you may want to try and contact Becker Auto Sound. Perhaps they can offer a comfortable solution for you.

The somewhat later models use a different CD cassette but interface with the factory head unit; I found a NOS one on ebay a couple years ago. Not sure how far the coverage overlap extends, however. If you have other media sources, such as phone, you can get a converter from Grom Audio that plugs into rear of head unit where the CD cable is now attached. That of course precludes going back to CD technology. Good luck.

Alpine is the CD maker ( they are part of Becker ) I think the number is Alpine CHA-S604.
I know nothing of this company other than they are a good resource to ID car audio. Mercedes Benz Car Stereo, CD, and Amplifier Repair, Car Stereo Help |
