Antenna trigger wire with DEH-80PRS

I'm currently installing audio in my 1987 190D turbo. I've got an amp installed and am installing a Pioneer DEH-80PRS. The 80PRS has a "system remote control" wire that I've used in previous cars (this is my 3rd 80PRS install) to connect to an amp. This is my first car that has had a power antenna.

My question is, if I connect the blue wire to my amp, can I also connect splice the power antenna trigger wire into this? If I do and that works, the antenna will raise every time the radio gets power, correct?

If I don't connect the antenna trigger wire, will the button to manually raise and lower the antenna still work? I don't use the FM radio much but it would be nice to have it there as an option.

Not positive about the Pio 80PRS, but because telescoping antennas have been phased out for a good while now, most newer headunits don't have power antenna logic for when the source is the radio tuner. The antenna output is basically like a second remote wire that is constantly on when the unit is powered up and is usually used these days in cars that have amplified antennas. You will need to connect the trigger wire and use the switch to operate the antenna manually.

Alright. As long as I can operate it manually that's fine. Thanks for the info!
