Question What are these butt connectors?

These were attached to my 1983 300D's stereo plug. It had an aftermarket Sony Headunit and the cars speakers are Pioneers.

Ive heard them being ground loops? What are they for? Do I need them?

I will be installing a Alpine headunit powerful enough to power more modern speakers. The 6" speakers I have from my previous car have High pass filters for tweeters and speaker in the front (wont fit in front) and my 2 rear 6" speakers are Co-axial.

Let me know if I can provide more info.

Nevermind, They are bass blockers intended for the smaller dash loud speakers. Prevents them from competing with the larger rears heavier bass.
