NHV reduction for 92 400e
I've noticed that my wife's 92 Q45 has superior sound damping. It's especially noticable on the highway. I find that once I exit the freeway I need to turn down my stereo quite a bit. I was wondering if anyone has added dynmat to their door panels in order to lower noise levels. Are there any other tricks?

There is already a Dynamat-like material in there, as well as a wool "blanket" (for lack of a better term) in there too.
What kind of tires are you running? Might be a BIG contributing factor

Right now I have Pirelli P6000s (205/55/16). There are quite noisy but I have too much tread (and they have a cool looking tread pattern) on them to justify a switch. Ironically when Pirelli launched this tire they claimed the unique tread pattern was specifically designed to reduce road noise. I do like the way they handle. Do you have any tire recommendations? I've heard good things about Yokohama DBs.
This "wool" you mentioned; is it adhered to the noise insulation on the inside of the doors? I’ve previously applied multiple sheets of Dynamat to a Miata I once owned. There was a noticable difference in noise reduction after applying the second layer. I was thinking of doing the same for my 400e. |
