'88 126 Power Ant. Puzzle - HELP!
Just installed a Blaupunkt CD deck in '88 420SEL.
Ran new speaker wire to rear seat & bypassed amps. My problem is that the power ant does'nt extend. Crutchfield tells me I'm using the correct lead ( two black wires that join to a female spade plug. This works the ant when connected & disconnected from orig Becker). Have tried connecting the lead to the blue power ant feed on the Blaupunkt as well as tapping into the switched 12V lead. Neither have worked. Factory harness plugs are as follows: 4 pin power plug - matches to Crutchfield adapter 3 pin plug to small rectagular box mounted on rear on Becker 5 pin plug (with two corners knocked off - like "D" connector) Female spade plug with 2 black wires as above single plug with a clip at bottom middle of becker (security loop?) antenna cable Presently have disconnected plug from ant motor, after extending it with old Becker unit. If any one can shed some light on this dillema, I would appreciate it. Thanks

do you by chance have the dash switch for the antenna? maybe this is the issue.
Perhaps this is the issue. The antenna trigger wire is blue with a white stripe if I remember correctly. Alon

The antenna switch is in the max position.
The only blue wire visible is in the 3 plug that goes to the box mounted to the back of the Becker (I think its part of the amp system). Again, the two wires that join at the female spade, seems to trigger the ant when connected/disconnected from the Becker. Any other ideas? Thanks for the reply.

Where o where is Scott to shed some light here? Scotty my man, where is your wealth of knowledge out here. I am interested in knowing what the deal is with this myself. I find it very interesting to know. Alon

Alon,
I did try the ant switch in different positions. Did not try separating the two black wires. Will try both individually. Thanks again.

Alon you are right the antenna trigger wire is blue but the common problem is that it is diguised inside a vinyl sheath. This is where everyone misses. Remember it also has a 1/4 in female spade connector on it. I will post the pic that shows this wire. I am sorry it has been taking me so long to reply as I have been working tooo much lately!

Scott,
Thanks for the reply & pic. On my car the other side of that connection (the two black wires coming into the spade connector) is what was connected to the back of the Becker. I never saw the blue wire side of that connection. Just to make sure, we're not talking about the connector in the plastic shell with a clip, right? I will try to take another hard look at it tonight. Thanks again.

It is the blue wire with the white insulator. This should be exactly like your car as I have it documented as a 88 126.......The black wire is the amp turn on and the brown/blue is the alarm closed loop trigger wire. (not used with aftermarket equiptment)I hope this is of help to you!

THANK YOU - THANK YOU - THANK YOU
Scott,
You are dead on. I disconnected the blue wire from the harness, and wired it to the pwr ant lead on the Blaupunkt and VOILA!! In your pic, if you follow the blue through the white insulator to the female spade in the lower right corner, that is the connector taht was plugged into the Becker. Thanks again to you and Alon !!!
