That sounds about right...it's definitely worth paying for the install if you don't want to deal with the MAJOR hassle of getting first through the engine firewall with the power, and then having to remove the entire back seat assembly to get through to the trunk. 100 bucks sounds like a good price to avoid all that trouble.

I bet the replacement of the head unit makes a huge difference...when I stuck my blaupunkt 40w x 4 channel head unit in there I thought I had a whole new stereo. I had planned on changing out all the speakers until I heard them with the blaupunkt, and I realized that I definitely didn't need to mess with any of the speakers.

The only thing I have replaced is the head unit. My sub works off RCA outputs from the head unit to a Profile Amp, but I have left everything else alone. It sounded 10 times better simply with the replacement of the head unit.

wHAT WAS in the car before? Did you have the premium sound, with 6 speakers and the tape player? Mine has the premium sound and the deck is amplified.

ALso my rear speakers have 2 tweeters mounted vertically to it. Did yours look like that also?

yup, that's exactly what I had. The rear speakers with the vertically mounted tweeters (explains why it was always so painful to sit in the back with the volume turned up) and the six speaker set up with tape player.

Sounded tons better with a new head unit.

So right now you have speakers in the dash and front doors, and the blaupunkt. I guess you used the stock amp? Or did you use the headunit's amp? Did you have to rewire your speakers ? I think if you use the stock amp, there's no need to rewire.

No rewiring, just plugged in the head unit. I didn't even need a harness for it, the plugs from the stock unit just snapped right in. I guess I'm feeding the signal from the head unit into the stock amps, but the fact that its a cleaner, more powerful signal out of the head unit as compared to the stock unit makes a big difference.

The only speakers in the system right now are the dash and door speakers in the front, plus the sub.
