I have a '91 420 SEL with the AMFM cassette radio. Radio works fine, but the light(s) have gone away making it fumble time in the dark to push buttons.

If your insturment lights and other switchs (windows,sunroof,a\c push button unit.....)ok you may have a faulty radio face plate ....because the radio lights was part of the face plate. hope this help. exchange is avalible at MB dealers. |

I guess I should provide a little more detail, all fuses are OK, the only lights on the radio that don't glow are the ones that light up the AM/FM pushbuttons, the lights for the mode and tape functions are OK. Sunroof, etc. appear to all be functioning properly. Thanks in advance. |

These are built into the faceplate and it will need to be repaired or replaced.

Is replacing the faceplate a do it yourself type job.
